Sen. Kowall and Marine hero honor Michigan’s fallen soldiers

LANSING—State Sen. Mike Kowall (left), R-White Lake, stands in the Senate chamber Thursday with retired U.S. Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer Donald F. Woodworth.

Woodworth was Kowall’s guest for the Michigan Senate’s 19th Annual Memorial Day Service, which honored Michigan’s military heroes who defended freedom and sacrificed their lives in the past year in the war on terror.

Woodworth is a 21-year veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He participated in nine service campaigns and received numerous personal medals, including the Navy Marine Medal for Noncombat Heroism.
