LANSING — State Sen. Mike Kowall, R-White Lake, announced Wednesday that several internship positions are available in his Lansing office effective immediately.
“Serving as an intern in a Senate office is a wonderful way to learn more about the legislative process and assist residents of the 15th Senate District,” Kowall said. “I encourage interested individuals to apply.”
Interns will provide assistance to Kowall, members of his staff and residents of the 15th Senate District. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: answering phones, monitoring legislation, drafting written correspondence to groups and individuals, attending meetings, and conducting research.
While the position is unpaid, hours are negotiable and school credit can be arranged.
Candidates for these positions should possess excellent communications skills, specifically writing and telephone skills. Previous office experience and knowledge of the Legislature and legislative process are a plus. Computer skills and knowledge of programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, are required.
