LANSING — State Sen. Mike Kowall, R-White Lake, is seeking new sources of revenue to benefit Michigan’s public education system.
Kowall is looking into establishing a new revenue stream for K-12 schools by allowing advertising on Michigan gaming tickets, such as lottery, Keno and scratch-offs.
According to the lawmaker, another possible revenue source to consider is allowing gaming-related sponsorships.
“We owe it to our children to pursue all possible avenues for generating additional education dollars,” Kowall said. “Sports stadiums successfully leverage corporate sponsorships and I think the state should examine this possibility as a funding source for our public schools.”
